Join us for an evening of cultural exploration as our tastebuds travel to Israel. Inspired by our cookbook of the month, Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking, Chef Greg will bring authentic Israeli flavors to the table. The dinner demo will give you the opportunity to learn about common cooking techniques that highlight fresh spices and produce. A few dishes to look forward to will be twice-cooked eggplant salad, silky smooth hummus, pastel (a delectable meat pie) and honey cake with apple confit.
The multi-course meal will be prepared in our state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen as you enjoy drinks and camaraderie.
During the months of March and April we would like to celebrate the beautifully curated content found within the cookbook Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking. The cookbook opens with a powerful autobiographical introduction of James Beard Award winner, Michael Solomonov. Throughout the pages, he uses the power of storytelling to convey the experiential culture of the Israeli people. Woven throughout the chapters are memories come to life, educational notes and suggestions for ingredient/recipe adaptations.
One thing in particular that Chef Greg appreciates about this cookbook is how Chef Solomonov and his business partner, Steven Cook, have kept their recipes honest. They celebrate tradition by focusing on ingredients, ease of preparation and approach dining as a communal experience.
Always looking to expand the flavor profile of the café, Chef Greg will be featuring some of his favorite recipes from the book in our food at The Corner Table Cafe.
